Restorative Dentistry
If you require assistance with damaged or decayed teeth, Tamarac Dental Care can help you regain a healthy and functional smile through restorative dentistry techniques.
Invisalign
Imagine straightening your teeth without needing to use wires or brackets. With the invisalign system, you can do just that. This system uses clear BPA-free plastic aligners, custom made to fit your teeth.
Each set is worn for about two weeks (or 5 days with acceleration), then exchanged for a new set. The aligners are barely visible when worn, they move your teeth efficiently and discreetly. This is a perfect solution for people who are constantly in the public eye and wish to straighten poorly aligned teeth.
Composite Fillings
At Tamarac Dental Care, we are a mercury-free practice. A composite filling is a tooth colored filling that is used to restore teeth that have been damaged by decay or fracture. Composite fillings provide durability and resistance to fracture in small to moderate sized restorations. They are placed in a single visit. As with most dental restorations, they are not permanent and may someday have to be replaced.
Crowns
When a tooth is broken down due to decay or fracture and needs structural support, a crown may be needed. Also known as “caps”, crowns are made of porcelain, metal, or a combination of both. This procedure requires a minimum of two appointments.
Implants
Today’s treatment of choice for replacing teeth is the dental implant. A dental implant replaces a missing tooth with a titanium root. A crown is then placed on top of the root. Your dentist will help you determine if you are a good candidate for implants. For more information, visit perio.org.
Root Canal
Sometimes root canal treatment is needed for two main reasons: infection or irreversible damage to the pulp. Root canal therapy is a specialized dental procedure that may help you save a diseased tooth. Inside each tooth is the pulp which provides nutrients and nerves to the tooth, it runs like a thread down through the root. When the pulp is diseased or injured, the pulp tissue dies. If you don’t remove it, your tooth gets infected and you could lose it. After the dentist removes the pulp, the root canal is cleaned and sealed off to protect it. Then your dentist places a crown over the tooth to help make it stronger.
Because the tooth will not heal by itself and the following may occur:
- Infection will spread
- The bone around the tooth will begin to break down
- The bone around the tooth will begin to break down
